Selling to Russians News: How to use your local media for success in international marketing
August 01, 2017

Hi Everyone,

How to use your local media for success in marketing properties for sale internationally

Often I receive a question through the Contact Form on my website: "Will I be able to sell my property to Russian buyers?" or with a similar meaning, and they come from almost any country of the world. Yes, usually I can help you find an answer (most of the time it’ll be a positive one).

Nevertheless there is the easiest first step you should take to decide whether it is worthwhile for you to start marketing your real estate for sale internationally and for which specific group of foreign buyers in particular: Check out your local media on the topic.

Here is an example of how to do it. Let's say you are a property owner, realtor or developer in Hungary, a small Eastern European country, and wondering about your options to sell your property to the foreign buyers. Start with googling in Hungarian (which I do not know, so I skip) or in English for something like: Foreign real estate buyers in Hungary.

Look up through the articles that come up and you may be lucky at once (as I was this time): The Budapest Beacon, an online publication committed to fact-based reporting about what is really happening in Hungary, just recently has published a comprehensive material *Chinese and Russian Nationals Top the List of Foreign Purchasers of Hungarian Real Estate*. Bingo!

Immediately you know what kind of properties and where exactly in Hungary some different groups of the foreign investors acquire. (I won't get into details of this article here as it has a limited interest for anybody outside Hungary actually, but if interested you may google it by the title.) Now you just mentally place your own property for sale in this general picture, and you are ready to decide what to do in terms of marketing internationally.

Sometimes you have to read through more than one article and compile their views for your own particular property. Also the results of your search will depend a lot on the keywords you choose, so try several combinations that describe your area and type of property. To continue with the above case we may go with the following phrase, for example: International buyers for home on Lake Balaton, etc.

If you had no luck on the internet on your own for whatever reason, go to your local library and ask for help of an experienced librarian - then probably even more resources (in print too) will be available to you.

Good luck with your research and send me an email if you have questions about international real estate marketing.

To your best business success,

Sincerely,
