Real Estate Marketing and Russian Winter Holidays
December 05, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Real Estate Marketing and Russian Winter Holidays

You want to choose the best time for your marketing messages to effectively reach Russian buyers, correct? Then you might be interested in the following:

-The most celebrated holiday of the year for the Russians is The New Year, January 1st, and they usually start preparations some days before.

-Russian Orthodox Christmas is on January 7th.

-Russian so called “The Old New Year” is January 14th. (About one hundred years ago Russia switched from Julian to Gregorian calendar, and this day was the New Year Day before the switch, and many still like to celebrate it as well).

So, during the first half of January people in Russia try to arrange a rather long winter holiday for themselves adding some vacation days in between. Also the winter school vacations usually last for about the same first two weeks of January, and parents want or need to spend time with their kids.

Thus we see that usually business is not on the minds in the first half of January in Russia, and many real estate companies close their doors - there is nobody in the office to answer phones or emails. Then they come back to discover email inboxes full over the limits… You want to avoid the situation that your email is lost or rejected, so let the Russian real estate companies first come to normal operations for a week or so and only then contact them with your offer.

Now in Russia they also celebrate or just acknowledge the Western Catholic Christmas which adds a week or so before The New Year to their winter vacation time, and we have almost a total month from the second half or end of December to the second half or end of January of the not-much-business-like time.

After the long winter holiday a very busy period of preparations for the spring-summer international real estate buying trips jumps in Russia, and you don’t want to miss it!

Resume: to make your real estate marketing-to-Russians promotion the most effective, start preparing your marketing materials during the dead season in December-January and actually release the campaign in Russia in February.

To your best business success,

Sincerely,
