Selling to Russians News: Russian vs. Chinese Real Estate Buyers
July 05, 2017

Hi Everyone,

Russian vs. Chinese Real Estate Buyers

After publishing the e-book *How to Sell Real Estate to the Russians*, I started my in-depth research for writing another e-book *How to Sell Real Estate to the Chinese*. And to my surprise I've discovered some similarities in both groups of international real estate buyers although they seem so distant in their cultural background.

Of course, the Russian and Chinese languages come from the non-related families of languages, the Russian and Chinese internet have nothing in common at all, and culturally speaking both nations are completely different, their cuisines, eating habits and communication standards are not the same, etc.

But from the point of view of marketing and selling properties to the Russians and Chinese, we can find some things in common between these two significant groups of international buyers:

-Developing trust with a buyer is the most important to get a successful sale as historically the nationals of both Russia and China tend to trust only their family and close circle of relatives and friends;

-The Russians and Chinese have closer family ties than it is common in the Western countries, they often buy properties for their children and elderly;

-In both countries they use the metric measurement system (along with some their own measure units specific for their cultures accordingly);

-The Russians and Chinese use the internet in their mother's languages rather than in English, not many people know English in both countries;

-More formal approach and dress code would be much appreciated by the Russian and Chinese buyers in comparison with what the Westerners are used to;

-Drinking is the favorite pastime in China as it is in Russia.

Now more about dissimilarities (apart from the internet, culture and languages): They may prefer different types of properties to buy. Let's say a Russian buyer may fall in love with a historical mansion much more often than a Chinese buyer who would choose a newly-built mansion over the old one, etc.

Having said all of the above, we should remember that nothing can be taken as an absolute truth for every particular person, and some Russian or Chinese buyers may show not typical for their cultural group behavior.

Anyway, for marketing and selling properties internationally it is important to consider the foreign buyers peculiarities while choosing the countries where to advertise your properties for sale, also the methods and content of such advertising - to get a successful sale as a result.
